The methodology and the definitions

The tables illustrate the first results of the 2005 microcensus. The questionnaires of the microcensus - like in the case of the Hungarian population and housing censuses in general - were filled in via direct interview of the population; no documentation of the answers was requested. For methodological reasons, the data presented in these tables might differ from those of other sources. The survey has been based on a 2 percent randomly selected housing sample; the respective law obliged the occupants of the dwellings - as data providers - to participate in the survey.

Reference date of the microcensus was 00.00 o'clock on April 1, 2005. The territorial presentation of the data refers to the administrative division, rank of the localities, as well as to the individual parliamentary constituencies in force on the reference date.

The notations used in the tables:

– no data (no observed statistical phenomenon);

.. data not known.

All the other methodology and the definitions, the different categories are shown on the page of the definitions of the Hungarian Population Census.
